Percy Rushton

1927-2019

It is with great sadness Worcestershire Football Association announce that our former President and Life Member, Percy Rushton passed away peacefully this morning following a short illness, at the age of 91. His family were with him.

Percy served on the Council of Worcestershire FA since 1959 and was our County Secretary from 1971 until 1992. He was elected President in 1999.  Percy was appointed as a Life Vice-President of the Football Association in 1999, first joining in 1974 and was our FA Council Representative for 29 years.

Percy was a great supporter of Grassroots football and was a stalwart of the Worcester & District Football League since 1955. He was their Honorary Secretary and Treasurer from 1961-1971, made a Life Member in 1971 and became the President of the League in 1987.

A very dignified man who invested huge interest, time and knowledge to football both in Worcestershire and nationally, a legacy unlikely to be rivalled and he will be sorely missed.

Funeral details are not yet known but will be circulated in due course.

Any correspondence for his wife Grace or daughter Christine should be sent c/o Worcestershire FA, Craftsman House, De Salis Drive, Hampton Lovett, Droitwich, WR9 0QE and we will ensure that this is passed to the family.
