Ramadan occurred from 10th March to 9th April in 2024.

Read the guidance provided below to find out how you can best support those at your club who observe Ramadan.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, is taking place from March to April. This is a vitally important event for Muslims and will have an impact on those at your club, particularly players. During Ramadan, it is expected that Muslims fast as well as offering to charity. Fasting is where a meal can be eaten before dawn and another is consumed after sunset. No food (or water) is to be consumed throughout the day.

Fasting (one of the 5 Pillars of Islam) is conducted to ensure spiritual reflection and Ramadan as a whole is there to help strengthen a Muslims’ relationship with God.

As a club and grassroots community, it is important to understand how best you can support those observing Ramadan. Please see below for The FA’s guidance on football and Ramadan.
