Football Mash Up

Are you 11 to 17 years old and no longer able to commit to playing 11-a-side football for your local club, and yet you still want to have a kick-around with your mates? Then a ‘Football Mash Up’ sounds perfect for you. Twitter: @WorcsFAFMU

FA Football Mash Up recruitment

The Worcestershire FA are looking to recruit additional coaches to deliver the FA Football Mash Up programme in secondary schools across the county from October 2015 for up to 20 weeks.

The FA Football Mash Up programme was created to address the high drop out rate in 14-17 year olds participating in affiliated 11v11 football. Mash Up centres, which are based on school sites as ‘after school clubs’ offer a recreational opportunity where the emphasis is on the players to choose the structure and content of their session which the coaches (Activators) facilitate.

FA Football Mash Up has run successfully in Worcestershire for two years, expanding the number of schools and subsequently participants it engages with each year. Minimum requirements to be a Football Mash Up Activator are a Level 1 football coaching badge and a member of the FA Licensed Coaches club (meaning in date Emergency Aid, Safeguarding Children and DBS check). Additional CPD around the specifics of the programme and effective coaching methods to use in this environment is provided for all new coaches.

If you are interested in joining the FA Football Mash Up team in Worcestershire as a casual coach, please contact Assistant Football Development Officer Rafe Turner on Rafe.Turner@WorcestershireFA.com. The deadline for expression of interest is 5:00pm Monday 24th August to ensure all coaches are prepared for sessions to begin when the new school term starts.

The FA Football Mash Up programme is aimed at encouraging boys and girls aged 11-17 years old who have dropped out of regular football to get back into the game. The Football Mash Up initiative is basically a kick-about with your mates, overseen by an FA qualified coach who will ensure that the sessions are fun and sociable with you and your friends getting to choose how you would like to play.

Football Mash Up sessions take place at numerous locations around the county, typically between 4-6pm on weekdays.
