Employability Through Football Programme

Programme starts week commencing 8th September 2021 subject to government guidelines

Worcestershire FA is proud to share a new and exciting programme, ‘Employability Through Football’, funded by European Social Fund Community Grants. The programme will provide fun and engaging of activities that will move people closer to employment, using football to engage learners, whilst at the same time having a big impact on the physical health and mental wellbeing of each participant. Learners must be 18+ to attend the programme and the start date is week commencing 21st July 2021, subject to government guidelines.

The programme will take place at the brand-new Worcestershire FA facilities at County Sports Ground, Claines Lane, Worcester, WR3 7SS. There will be no cost for the learners and funds are available to support with travel expenses. The programme will consist of 10 learners attending weekly sessions over a period of 12 weeks and learners will cover the following topics, using football as an engagement tool:

- Language and communication 
- Interview skills 
- Confidence-building 
- Job searching
- CV writing 
- Work placements / tasters

Ben Langworthy, Worcestershire FA Football Development Officer, said: “This is an exciting project and we are proud to provide an opportunity to those looking for employment. This programme will use the power of football to engage with learners, boost their confidence and develop life skills which can be transferred into working environments, as well as other aspects of life.”

“In addition to learning new skills and developing existing skills, the programme will also allow learners to enhance their CV, provide interview practice and provide some exciting links to work placements or tasters.”

The focus is on identifying transferable skills from sport to the business and wider workplace.”
