Worcestershire FA’s referee courses are inclusive and open to anyone aged 14+ regardless of their experience or background. We asked promotion seeking referee Vladimir Aleksandrov, originally from Bulgaria, about his experience of refereeing so far.

Why did you want to get into refereeing?
Because I love the game, and this is a good way still to be involved in football.

How did you find the Worcestershire FA referee course?
Searching on the internet for the closer referee community.

What support did you get to become a referee?
- Brief meeting
- 2 days course for beginners
- A lot of motivation from people already refereeing for years 
- Free equipment (whistle, cards, notebook etc.)
- A lot of advice and opportunity always to call some one, if I need to talk about something what worried me  
- Observers, showing me the right direction, and advice on how can I develop my referee skills

What advice would you give to someone from a BAME community who is unsure about becoming a referee?
Nothing should stop somebody trying, BAME community or not, this is about football, we are all equal!
