On Monday 18th May, Mostyn Rangers Ladies FC fought off tough opposition to win the WFA Women's Futsal League 2009 at the University of Worcester.
The Women's Futsal League, which has been running at the University of Worcester for 7 weeks, has been contested by 8 Women's Teams from across the County.
Following the group stages of the competition, the League split into two halves based on League standings. Monday 11th May saw the bottom half of the League play each other once more to contest the Plate Competition, which was won by Team Supreme. Having had a very slow start to the League, Team Supreme surprised everyone with their skillful performances in the Plate Finals, finishing undefeated on the night.
Going into the Championship Finals night, Chase were sitting top of the table, three points ahead of Worcester City Women and four points above Mostyn Rangers Ladies. However, in an evening of shock results, Mostyn Rangers Ladies played brilliantly to take maximum points and win the Worcestershire FA Women's Futsal League. In addition, Mostyn player Kirsty Hughes won Player of the Year after receiving the most Player of the Match votes throughout the League competition.
Mostyn Rangers Ladies will now go on to represent Worcestershire in the National Futsal Finals at the EIS in Sheffield, 3rd-5th July.
