Worcestershire Tesco Under 13 Cup Qualifying Competition

Tesco are working in partnership with most of the County Football Associations across the UK to run knockout competitions for under 13s, with the winners going through to Regional Finals, where they will play the winners of nine other county competitions. The victorious team then go through to the England National Finals and the winners will represent their nation at the UK Final. Both of the latter competitions will be held on football league grounds, like last year’s games which were hosted by Stoke City and Manchester City.

Eight Worcestershire FA parent affiliated clubs have again been invited to participate in the 2009 -10 Worcestershire Tesco Under 13 Cup Qualifying Competition with the opportunity of reaching the latter stages. There will be a new name on the trophy this season as neither of the three previous victorious clubs Worcester Colts (2008/9) Barbourne Royals (2007/8) or Kidderminster Lions (2006/7) are involved this time around. Of the eight participating teams, Ombersley, Meadow Park, Pershore 2007 and Nunnery Wood are making their first appearance whilst Welland Juniors, Evesham United, Broadway Juniors and Newtown Sports, have been involved in one of the three previous competitions.
The full list of participating teams this season is:-:

• Broadway United Juniors, Ambassador Evesham League
   Champions
• Evesham United, Cheltenham Youth League Third place
• Meadow Park, Stourport League Runners-up
• Newtown Sports, Mercian League Champions
• Nunnery Wood, Stourport League Champions
• Ombersley FC, Mercian League Fourth place
• Pershore 2007, Ambassador Evesham League Third place
• Welland Juniors, Mercian League Runners-up

The Qualifying Competition will be held entirely on the state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch under floodlights at Pershore High School (WR10 2BX), in order to promote the use of the surface to all and to decrease the chance of any cup ties being postponed.

A big thank you must go to Tesco, for giving us the opportunity to host such a prestigious event, long may it continue.

The competition will certainly be a great advertisement for the quality of football played in Worcestershire Charter Standard Clubs. Why not come along and watch? You will be very welcome.

Please see County Cups Tab then Tesco Cup for the quarter final draw.
